Simple plugin that disables XML-RPC, since it is enabled by default on WordPress 3.5 and above. It also removed references in the headers and in the body of the html.

Using The WordPress Dashboard

Navigate to the ‘Add New’ in the plugins dashboard
Search for disable-xml-rpc-fully
Click ‘Install Now’
Activate the plugin on the Plugin dashboard

Uploading in WordPress Dashboard

Navigate to the ‘Add New’ in the plugins dashboard
Navigate to the ‘Upload’ area
Select disable-xml-rpc-fully.zip from your computer
Click ‘Install Now’
Activate the plugin in the Plugin dashboard

Using FTP

Download disable-xml-rpc-fully.zip
Extract the disable-xml-rpc-fully directory to your computer
Upload the disable-xml-rpc-fully directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
Activate the plugin in the Plugin dashboard
