Connecting your store is an\nexplicit, manual action \u2014 nothing is transmitted until you enter a connection key\nand click Connect Store<\/em>, and disconnecting stops it. This plugin connects your site to Areviews<\/strong>, a third-party review service\noperated by Areviews (https:\/\/areviewsapp.com). The plugin cannot function\nwithout it. What is sent, and when<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n- Connecting or disconnecting the store<\/em> (when you click Connect or\nDisconnect in WP Admin > Areviews, and when the plugin is deactivated):\nyour site URL, site title, store domain, the site administrator email\naddress, and your WordPress, WooCommerce and plugin versions.<\/li>\n
- Widget settings check<\/em> (while storefront pages are rendered, at most once a\nminute): your store domain only.<\/li>\n
- Product changes<\/em> (whenever a product is created, updated, trashed or\ndeleted): product ID, name, slug, URL, status, SKU, price, image URL and\ncreation date.<\/li>\n
- Orders<\/em> (when an order becomes Processing or Completed, and when you run the\npast-orders import from the Areviews dashboard): order ID and number,\ncurrency, order-status URL, line items (product ID, name, quantity), and the\ncustomer's ID, billing email address, first and last name, and billing \/\nshipping country. This is what the review-request emails are addressed with.<\/li>\n
- Google rich snippets<\/em> (on product pages, only while the feature is enabled\nin the Areviews dashboard; cached for 6 hours): your store domain and the\nproduct ID.<\/li>\n
- Rendering a widget<\/em> \u2014 sent from the visitor's browser to\n https:\/\/wordpress.areviewsapp.com\/api\/display_reviews_api on pages that\nshow a widget: your store domain, the public widget token, the product ID,\nand, for signed-in customers only, the WordPress user ID and email address so\nthat \"verified buyer\" and \"you already reviewed this\" can be resolved.<\/li>\n
Widget markup and scripts<\/em> \u2014 the widgets are rendered by the service and\nplaced into the page by the plugin's script, and the Review Bubbles, Review\nReels and World Map widgets are loaded as JavaScript from\n https:\/\/wordpress.areviewsapp.com\/js_codes\/ on product pages, only while\nthose widgets are switched on in the Areviews dashboard. As with any remote\nasset, these requests tell the service the visitor's IP address and user\nagent.<\/p>\n\nThese three widgets are served from Areviews rather than bundled in the\nplugin because they are part of the hosted service and change with it: their\nlayout, animation and data handling are improved on a rolling basis and the\nrendering has to stay in step with the dashboard settings and the review API\nthat drives them. Shipping them inside the plugin would mean every design\nchange waited on a plugin release and on each merchant updating, and stores\non older versions would render widgets the service no longer supports. They\nare ordinary, readable JavaScript served over HTTPS from the documented\nservice endpoint, they are requested only on product pages and only for\nwidgets the merchant has switched on, and they are browser-cached like any\nother script.<\/p><\/li>\n
Theme compatibility support<\/em> \u2014 off by default, and only useful when a\nwidget is not appearing.<\/strong> Some themes rewrite the WooCommerce templates and\nremove the hooks the Areviews widgets attach to, which is why a widget can be\nenabled in the dashboard and still not show. Ticking \"Theme compatibility\nsupport\" in WP Admin > Areviews lets our support team read the layout\nfiles responsible: your theme's WooCommerce templates (product, shop \/\ncategory, cart), its layout files (style.css, header, footer, theme.json,\nwoocommerce.php), any Site Editor templates for those pages, and your\nWordPress, WooCommerce and PHP versions with the list of active plugins.<\/p>\n\nfunctions.php, wp-config.php<\/code>, your uploads, your database and all\ncustomer, order and personal data are out of scope. The list of files is\nfixed in the plugin's source and folders are never scanned, so nothing\noutside that list can be requested; anything resembling a key or password\ninside a template is masked before it is sent. While the setting is off the\nendpoint refuses every request.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\nAreviews also reads store data back from your site over signed REST requests\n(\/wp-json\/areviews\/v1\/\u2026<\/code>) for products, orders, verified-buyer checks and\nreview-reward coupons. Every request in both directions is signed with the\nconnection key you pasted in, and requests older than five minutes are refused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n- Install and activate WooCommerce.<\/li>\n

\nAre the imported reviews real?<\/h3><\/dt>\nYes \u2014 they are reviews written by real buyers about the same physical product, published on the marketplace it ships from. Areviews copies them across unedited: the text, the rating, the buyer's photos, the country and the date. It does not generate reviews and has no feature that writes one for you. Your filters decide which of those real reviews are good enough to show, and the honest way to run it is to import for the products you genuinely sell and let your own customers' reviews take over as orders come in.<\/p><\/dd>\n
Will Google show my star ratings?<\/h3><\/dt>\nAreviews adds valid review schema to every product page automatically, which is what Google reads to decide whether to show a star rating in search results. Whether it renders them is always Google's call, but the markup is there and correct. You can also push ratings to Google Merchant Center through the built-in Google Shopping XML feed.<\/p><\/dd>\n
Will it slow my store down?<\/h3><\/dt>\nReviews load from a cached endpoint after your page has rendered, images are lazy-loaded, and design settings are cached rather than rebuilt per visit. The widgets do not block your theme's first paint.<\/p><\/dd>\n
Which marketplaces can I import from?<\/h3><\/dt>\nFive straight from a URL with nothing to install \u2014 AliExpress, eBay, Etsy, Banggood and Wish. Eleven more through the free Areviews Chrome extension \u2014 Amazon, Shopee, Shein, Temu, Walmart, Alibaba, 1688, Taobao, TikTok Shop, Wayfair and CJdropshipping. Plus DSers, Dropified, Importify, Modalyst and Expressify, live import from any Loox or Judge.me store, and CSV \/ Excel upload.<\/p><\/dd>\n
Do I have to edit my theme code?<\/h3><\/dt>\nNo. The plugin adds the reviews block to your product template automatically, and every widget is switched on and placed from the Areviews dashboard. Shortcodes are available if you want to pin a widget to an exact spot.<\/p><\/dd>\n
What happens if I downgrade to Free?<\/h3><\/dt>\nUp to 6 reviews per product stay published. Anything above that limit is unpublished, not deleted \u2014 it sits in your dashboard and republishes the moment you upgrade again.<\/p><\/dd>\n
