This simple plugin will grab the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day and create a new post with it. You can choose which username it will post under as well as whether or not to go ahead and publish on creation.<\/p>\n\n

Using this plugin will required you get an API Key from NASA, which is very easy to get. This does not utilize an RSS feed and does not post duplicates.<\/p>\n\n\n

This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.<\/p>\n\n

e.g.<\/p>\n\n

  1. Upload the entire nasa-potd<\/code> folder to the \/wp-content\/plugins\/<\/code> directory<\/li>\n
  2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress<\/li>\n
  3. Update the API Key, default post status and default poster settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

    How exactly does it work?<\/dt>\n

    Upon activation of the plugin, it will grab that day's APOD(Astronomy Picture of the Day), and publish it. This will also create a scheduled task to fetch the new APOD every 24 hours.<\/p><\/dd>\n

    Yes, this plugin is fully automated, once you set it up it will grab the Astronomy Picture of the Day, once a day and create a post with it.<\/p><\/dd>\n

    Where do I get an API Key?<\/dt>\n

    This is very simple, just go to the NASA website and apply for one. https:\/\/data.nasa.gov\/developer\/external\/planetary\/#apply-for-an-api-key<\/p><\/dd>\n\n<\/dl>\n\n\n
